    Meet Staffing Properties: Sam Palmer

Introducing our team we are talking to Staffing Properties CEO & Founder Sam Palmer. Originally from London Sam has worked within the recruitment industry since 2011. During his early recruitment career in Australia, Sam recruited and managed teams in both temporary and permanent disciplines. In late 2018 Sam saw there was a gap in the market within the domestic staffing industry and decided to create the first agency led by someone who lives with house staff. Sam prides himself on his market knowledge and his ability to consult to clients and candidates alike. Sam’s vision is to bring fair pricing to all while never compromising on the level of customer service provided.

How did you start working in recruitment?

I started within the recruitment industry in 2011 while living in Australia. A friend had previously told me that they thought it would be a great career path for me and I’m glad I listened. I called an advert on google interviewed the same day and then started the following Monday. I spent the next 7 years working as a temp consultant for people2people eventually becoming one of their ‘Top Billers’. I still have strong friendships within the company, and they have advised me while starting my own recruitment agency in Los Angeles.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love everything about it! Some days are more frustrating than others, but I love the thrill of the chase. Seeing both candidates and clients satisfied at the end of the process is still the best feeling that I have. I still have candidates that I placed years ago that reach out and tell me I found them the dream job, which is very nice.

    What’s your favorite vacation destination?

Last summer I stayed at the Amangiri in Utah and it was magical. It was like no other place on earth I have ever been.

What’s your favorite spot in Los Angeles?

I love the Beverly Glenn center. It has my favorite market called Jayde’s and a beautiful deli that I enjoy breakfast with my family. On Sundays there is a classic car meet in the parking lot where you always get to see something cool.

Tell me about one embarrassing work situation?

I may have expanded the truth about my computer skill set while on the interview process at people2people. I was originally hired as a resourcer who’s main function of the job was formatting candidate resumes. In truth I was completely computer illiterate and worked mainly with a pen and paper. When I was asked to format a resume, I had no idea what it even meant. I was a quick thinker though and approached the lady on reception and said the boss had told me to send all my work to her as our team was to busy. It worked and only after about 4 months with the business did people find out. The other consultants all protested to our boss and he just laughed and said I used initiative. From that day on the front desk became support for consultants.
